American Goulash
Ingredients
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 large yellow onion
1 lb ground beef
4 c. chicken broth
1 24 oz. strained tomatoes
1 18.3 oz crushed tomatoes
3 Tbsp. worcestershire sauce
2 Tbsp. Italian seasoning
1 Tbsp. salt
2 Tbsp. paprika
3 bay leaves
2 c. dried macaroni
1 c. cheddar cheese
Instructions:
Step one:
Start by heating olive oil and cooking diced yellow onions. Cook for about 3 minutes. Add the ground beef, ensuring you chop it while browning to avoid large clumps. Once browned, drain the excess fat and juices. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 3 minutes.
Step two:
Add the chicken broth, strained tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, sea salt, paprika, bay leaves, and dried macaroni.
Step three:
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and cook for 11 to 13 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
Step four:
Once the macaroni is tender, stir in a cup of shredded cheddar cheese, ground pepper, and optional fresh Italian parsley until the cheese is fully melted.
Serve:
Serve this warm in a bowl. It pairs well with a simple salad and crusty bread, which is perfect for soaking up the sauce.
